The Most Common Refrigeration Issues for Businesses

Many businesses rely on refrigeration as a key part of their operation. From restaurants and grocers to companies needing to keep large portions of stock cooled for long periods of time, having a mechanism to cool your place of business or products is essential. Cool-Aid Mechanical has been serving businesses in the Greater Toronto Area for a long time now, and these are the most common refrigeration issues we have seen in our experience.

There’s water all over the floor

One of the most common refrigeration issues your business can encounter is a leak. When you are dealing with heavy duty commercial equipment, huge puddles forming around it can do a lot of damage and even scare away customers. The most common cause of a leak is a bad filter or defrost drain. The only real way to know though is to have our technicians come out and take a look.

The temperature is getting warmer

Nothing is worse than coming to work in the morning and seeing spoiled food or drinks, or your products at risk because of warmer temperature in your refrigeration unit. The most common cause of temperature increase in units like walk-in freezers is because of ice buildup or dirty filters. This essentially blocks the coolant from getting in and doing its job. There is no real way to tell, though, unless we can take a closer look at the situation.

The unit is freezing up

If you have a commercial fridge, then it could begin to freeze up at times. Having it covered in ice is not good, and the decreased temperature could in turn destroy your products.  Oftentimes, the freeze is caused by the evaporator fan not working properly. Check to see if it is covered in ice or not rotating correctly. If that doesn’t work, give us a call.

We deal with a lot of commercial refrigeration and HVAC issues in Toronto and the surrounding areas, and these are by far the most common refrigeration issues for businesses. Give us a call right away if you have them, because every minute that goes by is money out of your pocket.
